ABOUT US
Welcome!
My name is Shelley L. Spivey, MA. I am a Board Certified Christian Therapist through the Board of Examiners for Georgia Christian Counselors and Therapists, specializing in child, young adult, and family concerns as it relates to autism. I graduated with a B.S. in Education (Cum Laude) from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University in Arizona after transferring from the Mercer University School of Medicine Marriage and Family Therapy program in Macon, Georgia. I completed a post-masters certificate from Liberty University in pastoral counseling/addiction and recovery process.
I have over 25 years of experience, working with the families and children in many areas of Georgia. Prior to moving to Houston County, I worked at Palmyra Park Hospital in Albany, Georgia for Rehab Associates as an Occupational Therapist Tech. After attending graduate school I worked with women in a residential treatment facility at Gateway Cottage, a division of Hodac, Inc., in Warner Robins. I also worked at Grace Village, a homeless rehabilitative facility, in Perry. Afterwards, I had served at a private practice in Kathleen and a non-profit, Christian Counseling Services, at Mabel White prior to becoming the clinical director and owner of Versa Vada Counseling and later Shelley L. Spivey, MA Counseling in Bonaire.
Currently, I am the owner and clinical director of Waves Autism Center, LLC in Bonaire/Warner Robins, Georgia. In January 2025 we will be launching our new online community where we will be able to meet and serve families no matter where you live through our new social, educational, community, and career exploration online and in-person circles!
My two sons, Schuyler and Cameron, ages 24 and 22, and I work together in various roles at Waves along with our wonderful team of Waves teachers and staff! We serve those in elementary, middle, high school, and adults 18 and older.
My oldest son was diagnosed with autism, which led to our personal journey, leading us to create Waves for those with similar challenges and concerns, building friendships along the way. We strive to offer professional and confidential services with the highest level of client satisfaction. We will strive to do everything we can to meet your expectations. We look forward to walking alongside of you and your family.
Blessings,
Shelley Spivey, MA
Our Mission
It is our heart's desire to walk alongside you and your family, providing opportunities for parenting support, social interactions, and educational workshops, creating friendships that will last a lifetime! Jeremiah 29:11
Our History
Waves was created in the summer of 2018 to offer support and opportunities for social interactions for those that are autistic. Waves will be starting our 7th year in this upcoming school year 2024-2025, serving families and their children and young adults! We first began with social groups and have added life groups, and summer and educational workshops. We are grateful to offer many different pathways in this new year 2025!
